Trevor Trove 2015 Game of the Year Contenders

Originally published on Trevor Trove on December 22, 2015

After spending some time highlighting a lot of the notable games that I didn’t get to this year, here is the list of the games that I did play in 2015. Despite picking up a Wii U this year, I wound up not really playing anything released this year substantially enough to be in consideration, mostly catching up on the back catalog. Similarly, between moving houses and having a somewhat crappy older computer, I didn’t spend any time on PC gaming this year either. The PlayStation 4 was my main system this year but a few Xbox One exclusives and some PlayStation Vita games made the cut. So here are the 33 games I’ll be considering for my Best Games of 2015 list.

•    #IDARB
•    The Adventures of Pip
•    Axiom Verge
•    Batman Arkham Knight
•    Borderlands: The Handsome Jack Collection
•    Citizens of Earth
•    Fallout 4
•    Fallout Shelter
•    Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff*
•    Final Fantasy Record Keeper
•    Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae
•    Game of Thrones
•    Helldivers
•    Hotline Miami 2
•    Lara Croft Go
•    LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
•    LEGO Dimensions
•    LEGO Jurassic World
•    The Mega Man Legacy Collection
•    Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
•    OlliOlli 2
•    The Order: 1886
•    Ori and the Blind Forest
•    Rare Replay
•    Rise of the Tomb Raider **
•    Rocket League
•    Saints Row IV: Re-Elected ***
•    Shovel Knight ***
•    Super Time Force Ultra ***
•    Tales from the Borderlands **
•    Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
•    Volume
•    The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt

* = Family Guy The Quest for Stuff launched in 2014 but I spent time with it and some of the special event content this year for consideration.

** = Rise of the Tomb Raider and Tales from the Borderlands have not been finished as of 12/22/2015 but I intend to play/finish them this week prior to making my final decisions.

*** = Saints Row IV: Re-ElectedShovel Knight, and Super Time Force Ultra originally launched prior to 2015 on other platforms but I did not play them until they were released this year on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

So there you have it. One of those games will be the Trevor Trove Game of the Year. Stay tuned.
